Sovereign digital technology serving education

At UNOWHY, we believe that effective digital education must first and foremost be sovereign. This means data hosted in France, locally designed solutions, and full control over the tools used in schools.

Our ambition is to provide local authorities and educational institutions with a secure, responsible and independent digital environment, free from reliance on foreign tech giants.

Why is digital sovereignty a key issue for schools?

Digital technology is now at the heart of educational success and citizenship. But in the face of the dominance of American and Asian tech giants, preserving educational sovereignty has become a strategic imperative.

These challenges go beyond technology alone. They affect student safety, data protection and teachers’ pedagogical freedom.

Hosting and securing: the two pillars of sovereign digital technology

By choosing hosting in France and strengthening cybersecurity, local authorities and educational institutions ensure a trusted digital environment that complies with European regulations. Discover our best practices:
  • Host data in France

Choosing providers whose servers are located within the national territory ensures that students’ and teachers’ data remain protected under the French and European legal framework (GDPR, CNIL).

  • Strengthen cybersecurity on a daily basis

Train users, adopt strong passwords, limit the sharing of sensitive data and implement clear protocols in case of incidents.

  • Share best practices

Raise awareness among educational teams and share feedback between institutions and local authorities to strengthen the culture of digital security.

FAQ

A sovereign solution is developed, hosted and managed in France or Europe, in compliance with local regulations (such as GDPR). It ensures independence from non-European providers.

This ensures that students’ personal data are not subject to foreign legislation (such as the U.S. Cloud Act) and remain protected under CNIL regulations.

All data are stored on servers located in France. Partners in the SQOOL Applications catalogue are committed to never collecting or monetising user data.

Some operations have now been relocated: after-sales service is based in Neuilly-sur-Seine, and a partial assembly phase is being tested at La Fabrique. The long-term goal is to strengthen digital sovereignty at every stage of the value chain.
